Healthy Mouse - Pineapple Banana Whip

If you aren't willing to fork over $20 for a bag of Dole Whip powdered mix and invest a couple hundred dollars in a stand mixer with ice cream attachment or an ice cream machine, this recipe is your new best friend! It is one of the easiest things I have ever made and it is incredibly delicious.
Dole Whip comes in a variety of flavors including raspberry, orange, lime, mango, cherry, lemon and the original pineapple.

The base for this recipe comes from the non-dairy ice cream phase that swept social media a few years ago. Processed frozen bananas make an incredibly creamy whip base! You can add fruit, peanut butter, Nutella, or other mix-ins to get almost any flavor you want. The base does have a mild banana flavor. The riper the bananas used the stronger the flavor. Since I've been working on some guilt-free WW recipes, I used ripe bananas (which is also a great alternative to making banana bread with them) and whipped them with pineapple for an easy tropical "Dole" whip. The result was a sweet and creamy soft serve that had a strong forward flavor of pineapple and subtle after note of banana. Hubby said it was perfect.

Additional additives like coconut milk could be used but if the banana isn't ripe enough; it will be smooth and creamy without the addition of any other ingredients as long as the bananas aren't green! Swirl on a touch of whipped cream, a maraschino cherry, and drink umbrella for extra Tropical Hideaway vibes or make a float with some pineapple juice. If you're feeling really adventurous go for a Spiky Pineapple by adding coconut rum to your pineapple float.

Pineapple-Banana Whip

Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, frozen
  • 2-3 cups of frozen pineapple

Instructions

  1. Freeze 3 ripe bananas. Pull out a blender or food processor. Toss 'em in and process until smooth using a spatula to scrape down the sides as needed.
  2. Add 2-3 cups of moderately thawed pineapple and continue to blend until smooth.
  3. If you want the swirled effect, load the whip immediately into a piping bag fitted with a 1 M tip. Pipe in swirls into a shallow dish. Alternatively, freeze for 2 hours and scoop into a dish! Enjoy.
