Air Fryer Garlic Soy Glazed Wings Hearthstone Lounge

Another menu item we missed out on while staying home from my birthday trip to Disneyland was the Garlic-Soy-Glazed Wings from Hearthstone Lounge at GCH. I had big plans for this snack stop! Luckily I have a great new way to make wings at home using my air fryer. It makes amazingly crisp wings with simple clean up. My secret to delicious wings - regardless of your target flavor - is to season with wings first and then fry them. Toss them in sauce right before serving so they are still crisp from the fryer and super saucy.


The wings at Hearthstone Lounge use Togarashi spice as their not-so-secret ingredient. It is a blend of red chili pepper, Japanese pepper, orange peel, black sesame seed, white sesame seed, hemp seed, ground ginger, nori, and poppy seed. I chose coriander and garlic to star in the seasoning for these wings and garlic to make a comeback alongside ginger for a saucy duet. It is an oil based marinade with a ton of spices which is actually super delicious on its own and take different sauces well. Easy Asian-style sauces are a combination of soy sauce, garlic, and honey. You can use fresh or ground ginger in the sauce for convenience. I tried both and didn't detect a significant improvement from fresh.



If you don't have an air fryer at home you can make these on the grill or try and bake them in the oven. Grill is fine when the weather permits. The air fryer is always ready though, rain or shine (or snow in Colorado's case)! Buy a tray of party wings and do yourself a favor... these are 100% your new favorite wings. Trust me.

Garlic Soy Glazed Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 2 tbs paprika
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp tumeric
  • 1/4 tsp corriander or ginger
  • 1/8 tsp chipotle chili pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tbs oil

Sauce

  • 4 tbs soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger (1 tbs fresh)
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp of corn starch

Instructions

  1. Mix spices and oil in large bowl. Toss chicken wings in marinade and chill for 30 min to 1 hour or use immediately.
  2. In a small saucepan, mix soy sauce, water, honey, garlic, ginger and chili flakes. Bring to simmer and add 1 tsp of corn starch. Continue to simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes. Add more corn starch a little at a time until sauce is desired thickness. Set aside and keep warm.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees for 3 minutes. Add 8-10 wings to basket and fry in batches for 16-17 minutes turning halfway. 
  4. Add cooked wings to bowl, drizzle with sauce, and toss to coat. Enjoy!
